Let's maximize your website's power to connect

A strong website will inspire current and potential donors, volunteers, and partners. It may also appeal to new clients and participants.

But whoever the readers are, your site must connect with them quickly - or they will just click away. You have less than a minute to make an impression. That's why creating an authentic connection right away is so important (and a conversational tone can accomplish that).

If you keep readers on the page, then you have a chance to demonstrate that your organization is legitimate and inspiring. Potential supporters will feel they can trust you, because they’ll know their dollars or hours are going to an organization that makes a difference. They’ll realize that your organization is passionate, knowledgeable, and effective. They'll view you as a thought leader.

Your clients, neighbors, or participants will feel they can trust you, too. They’ll know you’re offering quality services with dignity and respect, and they’ll want to contact or visit you.

How can we accomplish this? I'll ask you the right questions to determine what information we should include and how we can present your org thoughtfully and powerfully.

My Process

Step 1: Discovery and brainstorming meeting
This step is crucial—I can’t write about you until I know exactly who you are. We’ll cover your mission, vision, values, voice, tone, passion, methods, and more. (You may have that info on your website, but I want to hear it from you directly and delve deeper.)

Step 2: Brand style guide
If you don't have one yet, we can craft a brand messaging and style guide, which will develop and capture your organization's vision, personality, audience, voice, and more. This will influence all the following steps because it shapes the message we're communicating and how we're presenting it.

Step 3: Website content analysis
I’ll take a look at your website and analyze its content, organization, tone, ease of navigation, and impact. I'll note the problematic areas, missing pieces of information, or opportunities to increase your influence.

To wrap up this step, I will give you a list of general recommendations for improving the site. If it’s à la carte, you can implement those changes on your own. If it’s part of the package, you can review these recommendations and give feedback before I move on to the next step.

Step 4: Website content plan
Next up, I will develop a new content plan for your sparkling new website. The transformed site will be thoughtfully organized and easy to navigate. It will present your information accurately, clearly, and persuasively. I'll structure your site around the call(s) to action so that every page makes an impact.

After developing this plan, I will give you a straightforward outline of the pages your website needs and detailed descriptions of what each page should cover. I will provide numerous comments to explain why I organized the website that way, why I made changes, and why it will be effective. To wrap up this step, you’ll have another opportunity to give feedback.

Step 5: Brand new website content
I will transform your website into a modern, effective marketing tool that empowers you to carry out your mission. Here are some of the things your new content will accomplish:
  • Keep readers on the page, so they can learn more about your organization
  • Express your vision and passion, so that readers get excited
  • Showcase your work, so that people want to get involved
  • Create the impression that you’re a modern, skillful, knowledgeable expert
  • Position your organization as a thought leader, so that professionals and other orgs will turn to you for information and ideas
Two rounds of edits are included. Although it's my writing, it's your copy. I want you to love it.
